Bottom of the league in free kicks, what's the plan?

This season, our Sounders have taken a swing at 161 free kicks and 78 corners. The payoff? Zero goals.

We've actually netted more from throw-ins. Only two other teams, Austin and Montreal, share our zero tally.

Note that 'free kicks' includes all, even those from our own half.

What's the plan?

Looking back to last year, we had 438 free kick attempts and 167 corner kicks.

The reward was a measly 4 goals - and half of those were scored in the first seven games.

That landed us in tied for 16th place in the league, averaging a goal every 10 games.

The league leaders were netting a goal every 4 games.

In the past 41 games the Sounders have 2. 1 every ~20 games.

So I have to ask, after all that time in the off-season, what was the plan they came up with?"

7/23/22 - Seattle 2 Colorado 1: Free kick taken quickly from Sounders half of the field catching Colorado asleep

8/26/22 - Seattle 1 Portland 2: Free kick that skips the first typical short pass target for a cross to back post

Is it a case of having the wrong players taking the free kicks?

Is there an issue of our kicks failing to find their mark too often?

Or perhaps, is our roster lacking the skill set needed to excel at free kicks?

Could it be a lack of imagination in our runs, or just a run of bad luck? Or is it just down to injuries?
